One of the coolest local Hotspots. The heated lamps with all the deep fried pastries attracts much attention. If you come to Barceloneta and miss this little spot, then you lose the essence of what each of the people experienced growing up is like. They say "Good things come for those who wait" and this place was worth the wait. Lines can get long but the service is quick and the food was delicious. Make sure you beat the school rush that happens around 10:45-11:45. This place closes early so if you come after 1pmish, then this place is typically closed. I ordered 5 different pastries which I didn't know the name of but they had a lot of similarities with the taste and variation of potatoes, plantains, bananas, ground seasoned beef stuffed. There are many types so pick quickly and/or ask for suggestions but don't be the tourist that holds up the line by asking too many questions. While in line, you should already be observing what others are ordering and deciding which one you should pick. The locals still need to go back to work and continue their lives so be mindful of that. Luis was extremely nice and gave me a wonderful selection of their local favorites. Each of these pastries run for $2. I was not a fan of their coffee but I didn't come for that nor will that take away from the experience I had. Don't expect a dining experience, this is food you eat on the go. However, down the street offers a great plaza and open space with plenty of benches, where you can soak in the city vibes. Don't miss out on this place.
